KAZAA RELEASES PEER-TO-PEER PLUG-IN FOR WINAMP; 25.000.000+ WINAMP USERS CAN NOW FIND AND LISTEN TO MUSIC DIRECTLY

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, January 15, 2001 – KaZaA has today released a plug-in application for Winamp which allows Winamp users to find and listen to music directly from their favourite MP3 player.

With the KaZaA Winamp Plug-in users can search for music by artist, title, album or keywords, from the KaZaA peer-to-peer media community, and play the music directly in Winamp.

The “Lucky?” button is a new feature that simplifies the process of finding music by directly playing the best match for a search query. This is useful when you know exactly what you want – the hit single Music by Madonna, for instance. Simply type it, hit the “Lucky?” button and wait for a few seconds and the music starts playing.

The “Lucky?” feature can also be used to play music at random; type in Madonna, hit the “Lucky?” button – a random Madonna track will start playing within seconds.

The convenient “Find more from same artist” or “Find more from same album” feature makes it a snap to find more music from a particular artist or album.

“Winamp is a superb application for playing MP3 music. But so far, users have been forced to use an additional application – such as KaZaA Media Desktop or Napster – to find MP3 files. These days are over”, says Niklas Zennström, CEO.

The KaZaA Winamp Plug-in utilises the KaZaA distributed peer-to-peer network for searches for music files among the thousands of community members.
